W-FENEC INTERVIEW 2000

A flight coming from Hawaii deposits in Paris, small a frenchie, Sylvain, for lack of large waves in the capital it releases its board for one scrapes and seeks pals with whom to play... One is in 1992 and via a small advertisement (wouhou) it meets a bass player, Boris. Artsonic was born... The group is supplemented with a singer and a succession of beaters. In 95, Stéphane a second guitarist joined the combo and the singer leaves it, Sylvain seizes then wildly the microphone which it will not release any more... One already arrived in 1995 and they are then ready to record, which they do until the beginning of the following year (96).

Completely own-produced, the wafer called Sonic Area will arrive into 97 in the vats via Lolita Music. Artsonic then makes in the good old man (?) thrash metal option large riffs oozing of sweat, their efforts are rewarded by a beautiful round and a concert in Lyon with Machine Head ...

Boostés by all that, Artsonic go back on-site for a second album, but in the French desert it is difficult to leave an album metal and to promote it well. The same problem arises in Watcha , it is necessary to react! As one is never been useful better than by oneself, created Wet Music , with Sylvain with the orders, a label completely independent in France to leave (initially) the groups of metal. It was necessary to dare, they did it.

Fake thus leaves into 98 at Wet Music. An album definitely less thrash which proposes melodies and not badly of samples, the clip of "Fake" turns on some tele and is encrusted even in the grid with The Music Factory, the musical chain Dutchwoman.

But the public does not follow, Dirk the beater releases the group which goes dice at the time vegetating... Sylvain bump more on the label, the group is put between brackets juqu' on arrival of Pierre who will take the futs to see what that gives... And that gives! Artsonic closes again the bracket and goes back to the job, the station-wagon made it possible the group to reload its batteries and to find a new freshness. In 3 months, the titles of the future album are composed, the machine are started again and turn to full mode, the appointed producer of Wet (or almost!), Stéphan Kraemer (Impuls Studio) puts all that on tape and miracle, a major, in event WEA, is interested in French metal!!! They throw their reserved on ArtSonic which signs a contract, a truth, in May 2000. It will have taken 8 years and the dream of much of groups becomes reality for Artso. Time to have fun the festival with pals on scene (Wet Turn) and the summer occurs to paufiner the exit from Fashion Victim which unloads on October 24 in all the vats of France. An album where an adult group is discovered, well in its head, released... The new century will start with Artsonic which one will find on scene for our greater pleasure.

After the round, the group again changes line-up and of house of discs... Pierre joined Lofofora and Séb replaces it for the sessions studios Stéphan Kraemer (Impuls Studio) and the young label Something To Scream (nearest relative to Somethin To Say) at Wagram signs the group which profits from the mixing of its Hacktivist album by Howie Weinberg in New York... It is on January 20, 2003 that it arrives in version digipak in our vats...

A bomb in a wheel chair which would be a victim of the mode??? What does that want to say well? Good, each one will find its answer, in any case for the bomb, it is enough to make play... Artsonic made us an album péchu, melody, pleasant, accessible and dared at the same time! Many melodies, not badly of effects of voice, small very calm passages which tend to be irritated but not too, of the very clean guitars with a sound which never becomes too heavy, of the delicate samples, rhythmic wise then which sends wood (!), there are many things in this album... Does the clip of "None", piece very metal and also very entrainant learn some to us more on the shifts and humour relaxes rogues who have fun all the time (?), even on this title with the words rather little filling with enthusiasm ("None of the men i' ve seen, none of them were born innocent")? The album is obviously metal by its riffs and its overall sound but certain titles like "Time" or "Educate the masses" very industrial, are truffés of loops and environment very "metal-undue money". If these two titles very are successful, it is less the case for "Taste" where there the sum of the mixtures and a large passage of machines makes a little task compared with the remainder of the opus... Why this space of techno? To be à.la.mode whereas the poor fashion victim which us sums are dénonçées in "Urban guerilla", not, pass. Let us return to the melody quality of the album of ArtSo , it is rare that such an amount of softness mixes on guitars altogether very aggressive, it is enough to hear the station-wagon of "Get off me", superb "the When you saved me", almost the slow fox trot "Tomorrow" (finally the "fast" version and not the hidden track...) to understand that the melody makes it possible to emphasize the rage of certain passages which without it, would be perhaps insipid since not so malicious that that, the voice of Sylvain not being never again trash. They explain as the reference to Filter as us the press kit offers, I adore Filter . For a long time already the Parisian ones begin again on scene "Another brig in the wall (share II)", the signature on a major made certainly it possible to leave this title in version studio and if the piece puts fire in all the rooms, on the album there will be the right obligatorily to the debate... I am personally an admirer of Pink Floyd and I am divided enough by this piece. Between side the modifications made to the song and the doubling of times to the battery which denature a little too the hit and on another side by the environment which they make reign with the machines and the solo of guitar which trails rather magiquement in the atmosphere... Like all the recoveries, one will find things to repeat, especially that here the piece is worship but and brilliant at the beginning, it is not a vulgar tube disco music given to the style of the day... At least, that will make speak and perhaps discover Pink Floyd with some! But the album includes/understands 11 titles and this one is only one stone at the building not to say another brick on the wall. A wall resolutely metal, admirably melody, artsoniquement built well!
